Health might not be the first thing you think of when you get up and go to work each day because you're busy making a product, running a campaign, teaching your kids, preaching to your congregation, managing investments, or writing new policy.
We believe that all roads lead to health. That means that no matter what you do in the world, it has an impact on your own health and the health of people around you. Your health is not an accident; it is a production of society. The science tells us that your health is about 10-20% genetic; 30-40% based on personal behavior (Do you eat right, diet, exercise, engage in risky behavior, wear a seatbelt); and the other 40-50% is based on systems that create the contexts within which you live your life and make your personal behavioral choices. Those systems include housing, education, transportation, employment, structural racism, access to health care, access to technology, and the environment.
At CommonHealth ACTION, we see the ways that our passion—health—connects to yours. We all want to make the world a better place. That's why we want to work with you and create seismic shifts, positive change that you want to see. This model represents our role in the production of the public’s health and shows how we can work with you.
