provided technical assistance to one of the sites within the
PLACE MATTERS Initiative

CommonHealth ACTION staff, Vincent Lafronza and Nehanda Lindsey, provided technical assistance to one of the sites within the PLACE MATTERS Initiative – Marlboro County – in a two-day site visit to South Carolina. The focus of the site visit was to assist that team with their efforts to address the high school dropout rates (almost 60%) as well as the significantly low graduation rates in the county. CHA staff helped the team to develop an outline for an issue brief that they will use as a resource to engage community stakeholders and policymakers on the local and state level to address this critical problem in the county and state’s educational system.
