[12.05.09] The Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHi), a division of CommonHealth ACTION, received an “Emerging Institutes” grant award from the National Network of Public Health Institutes and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. These funds will help guide the development of IPHi’s strategic plan.

[11.01.09] CommonHealth ACTION has launched the Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHi). Serving the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, and working in partnership with Healthy Appalachia in southwestern VA, this new public health institute is a member of the National Network of Public Health Institutes (www.nnphi.org). While Public Health Institutes have developed rapidly across the country over the past decade, this section of the mid-Atlantic lacked a public health institute that could complement public sector and community-based population health efforts. Public health institutes strengthen public health efforts through trust-based partnerships across systems and jurisdictions. They spur innovation and develop capacity and resources to address community health issues. The Web site for the Institute for Public Health Innovation (www.PHInnovation.org) is under construction.
