School Health Connection: Organizational Assessment and Strategic Planning [LPHI: 12.08]

The Louisiana Public Health Initiative (LPHI) contracted with CommonHealth ACTION to conduct an organizational assessment and facilitate development of a School Health Connection strategic plan, the goal being to inform the future directions for this initiative.  Having worked in the New Orleans metropolitan area and other locales in Louisiana since 1997, CHA staff is well versed in the complexities of this work and familiar with the context of the post- Katrina and Rita environment. School Health Connection’s (SHC) mission is to provide leadership to expand and sustain the emerging network of school-based health centers (SBHCs) in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area and to foster healthy school environments through appropriate coordination, planning, and resource development.  SHC utilizes advocacy, partnerships, technology, technical assistance, resource development, and evaluation to develop high quality school-based health service programs, and activities.
